About Us

Established 1978 – Northeast Missouri, St. Clair Performance Horses is a family-operated AQHA breeding program rooted in the heart of Northeast Missouri. Since 1978, we’ve been committed to raising sound, versatile Quarter Horses built on proven bloodlines, strong conformation, and a legacy of horsemanship passed down through generations.

Mike and Kim St. Clair both grew up on horseback and began laying the foundation of their program in 1980 with the purchase of their first AQHA mare — a golden palomino filly named Bailey, carrying the blood of greats like Gold King Bailey and Cutter Bill. Bailey marked the beginning of what would become a lifelong pursuit of excellence in the American Quarter Horse world.
A turning point came in 2000 with the addition of our cornerstone stallion, Four Bonnie Bay, affectionately known as “Spur.” With his strong build, quiet mind, and proven pedigree, Spur brought power and balance to our program. His offspring continue to carry forward his legacy — producing the kind of horses we’re proud to put our name on: athletic, intelligent, and ready to work.

Today, St. Clair Performance Horses is truly a multi-generational operation. All four of our daughters, along with nine grandchildren, are actively involved — from daily chores to foaling, training, and showing. Our family-centered approach ensures that every horse we raise receives hands-on care, thoughtful training, and a deep foundation of trust and respect. We are proud to carry forward the values we started with: Solid. Safe. Sound. With a deep passion for the Quarter Horse breed, our program is built on legacy, intgrity and purpose. Whether you're looking for your next performance prospect, broodmare, or lifelong partner — you’ll find the legacy behind our horses runs deep.
